As I have stated in my previous posts here and here, our social studies and geography themes are related to each other so some of our projects cover both subjects.
Kids are learning their home addresses, important phone numbers, relatives with their names and addresses and so on. So apart from our My home and My Family lapbook we made this step book to make it little easy and fun for kids to know their home ( place) in this big world.
For this project we read Me on the Map by Joan Sweeney. It is a very good book on the subject and older kids do much more independent work after reading it inshaAllah. So it is something we can use next year too.
Here is the step-book we made. About a year ago I saw this idea of making Me on the Map step-book on youtube. The lady who was showing said making stepbook on this topic would make it easier for kids to understand the concept of "their world getting smaller/bigger".Anyway, here are some pictures. Everything is fairly simple, you just need some papers, pencils, markers, stickers, maps (optional, if you can't print out you can just draw them) and a few pictures.
Again I took the pictures before we completed the step-book since we added some personal information.

Very nice and good way to make them remember all this. After we complete our section on mapping and home address Insha Allaah we will do something like this along with the lapbook. Thanks for sharing! It looks so interesting masha Allaah!

This is a very simple activity you can do with Maimoonah inshaAllah, and I hope she will like it as much as my kids do inshaAllah : )
BTW, if you want we can read "Me on the Map" just before you start doing the project inshaAllah. The book is really interesting!
