Kindergarten Curriculum. Math

I forgot to write monthly summary for math last month. So, I'll just go through briefly what we have been doing.
Both kids have been doing math worksheets from their Big kindergarten workbook. Ibrahim has finished the book I have mentioned here and Sarah is going according to our monthly plans.
Apart from doing general number/math worksheets, throughout the transition math section these are the topics Ibrahim worked with.
  • understanding numbers though 20
  • working with concepts more/ greater and fewer/less
  • exploring concepts before/after/in between
  • identifying and extending patterns
  • learning about ordinal numbers
  • working with tally marks
  • telling time to the hour
  • learning to add/subtract
  • working with graphs
  • estimating
  • measuring
  • counting money (pennies, nickels and dimes)
  • working with fractions
Of all these topics his favorite ones were counting money and telling time. There are many pages that cover counting pennies, nickels and dimes.

We also got beginner reader books about currency from the library and kids read them a lot.
Both kids know how to tell time with digital clocks, and now with analog clocks Ibrahim can:
Draw the time on the clock face (whole hours)
Tell the time to the whole hour
Tell the time to the half hour
Tell the time to the quarter hour
Tell the time to the five-minute intervals.

They are also doing MEP maths Year 1. So far they have done the first 5 lessons. To be honest I expected the Year 1 to be more advanced than Reception year. I even checked my files number of times to make sure that I downloaded the correct files : ) Anyways, the material is very simple right now, but the overall lesson plans and activities are nicely put together. It even includes physical exercises (similar to ones we usually do in our circle times) and both kids really enjoy doing them.
I'm not sure how long we will be doing MEP Maths, I'll look through other Grade 1 math workbooks inshaAllah for Ibrahim.

Posters to go with lessons.
pages from practice book

And they have been doing different math related activities here and there and somehow I managed taking these pictures.

Assalaamu Alaikum!
Masha Allaah nice well done Ibrahim. Big boy now! Maimoonah knows to tell the digital time but still get confused with the anolog : ) I had a time unit that one sister sent me. I will ask her if I can pass on to others. If she says yes I will mail you insha Allaah!
Yes I know what you mean with MEP. We just started, but sis, I am leaving out many repetition and concentrating on the PE part as you have mentioned once in a way and only on the concepts. As I feel its a comprehensive recognized curriculum might as well use it but I will also be looking out for alternatives Insha Allaah!
